Did you know that you could change the entire look of a photo by simply cropping it?
Here are some good reasons why you would crop a photo:
- Recompose/reframe your photo
- Zoom in to the subject
- Remove clutter in the photo
- Connect better with the subject
Take a look at this photo, for example.
There’s nothing technically wrong with this photo, but the subject gets lost with the background.
By cropping the photo and using the rule of thirds to place the subject in the left part of the photo we are bringing the viewer’s attention directly to the subject.
Look how the photo is more focused after cropping.
Don’t be afraid to crop, but make a duplicate of the photo before you crop if you are uncertain about the outcome.
